Tours of Historic Town of Chicken and Tisha's Schoolhouse Today, there is a lot more to Chicken than appears from the roadway. Guided tours take people through the Historic Town of Chicken, which is a living museaum of Gold Rush and Alaskan Frontier history. Tisha is the name given to Chicken's most famous inhabitant, Anne Hobbs Purdy. Tisha came to Chicken to teach the local children in the late 1920's. She later co-wrote a book recounting how she faced the difficulties of a close-set community, prejudices against natives, and the hard winter.
